Washington’s Enchanting Peninsula & Coast
Enveloped by wilderness Washington’s Olympic Peninsula and Coastal region is full of enchanting excursions that you won’t want to miss.
Beginning in Olympic State Park the Hoh Rain Forest and the Quinault Rain Forest transport you into a fairy-tale as you walk through emerald gardens hung with moss and filled with larger than life Spruce trees. For a family-friendly hike, the short .08-mile hike to Sol Duc Falls allows you to get up close to the pristine falls as they descend beneath a wooden bridge.
Along coastline beaches, natural formations of driftwood and sea-spray allow for nature’s sculptures to be glimpsed as pictures of wave-battered beauty against the Pacific Ocean.
In the beautiful city of Port Angeles, you can tap in to the culture of the Klallam people and explore maritime history at the Museum at the Carnegie. If you are visiting during October, the Port Angeles Dungeness Crab and Seafood Festival is a one-of-a-kind celebration. Frequented by renowned chefs, the three-day festival offers non-stop activities and live entertainment.
Overlooking the harbor in Port Townsend the Rothchild House is one of several beautiful historic homes in the area. This Victorian mansion was built in 1868 for the well-known merchant D.C.H. Rothschild and contains many of the families’ original belongings.
