Explore New York City’s Cultural Art Scene

Plan a trip out to western New York and see the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. Showcasing an abundance of modern and contemporary art, Albright-Knox has impressionistic and post-impressionistic works from 19th century artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin; cubist, surrealist, and constructivist works of Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Jean Metzinger, Henri Matisse, and other iconic artists of the early 20th century. Get a glimpse of pop art and works of abstract expressionism from the 1970’s through the end of the 20th century from the likes of Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol.

Head out to central New York and see the Stanley Theater in Utica. Originally opened as a movie theater, the Stanley now hosts the Great Artist Series of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute; Broadway Theater League; Utica Symphony; and the Mohawk Valley Ballet.

Legendary performers such as Gene Autry, Diana Ross, Barry Manilow, Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, Burt Bacharach, and many others have performed live shows at the Stanley.
